Shot on 35mm film using a Leica camera, this series of work explores the streets, architecture and everyday atmosphere of Shanghai and Tokyo through a cinematic documentary style. Combining analogue photography with street and editorial influences, the project captures the contrast between tradition and modern life across two of the world’s most visually dynamic cities.

Photographed across neighbourhoods, side streets and urban landscapes throughout Tokyo and Shanghai, the series focuses on natural moments, city movement, neon light, architecture and the details often missed in fast-paced environments. From rain-soaked streets and crowded crossings to quiet residential corners and traditional spaces, the work documents the unique visual identity and culture of both cities through a raw and observational approach.

Using a Leica and 35mm film allowed the project to retain an authentic analogue texture, with grain, colour and imperfections becoming part of the storytelling process. Influenced by documentary photography, Japanese street photography and cinematic image-making, the series blends realism with atmosphere to create imagery that feels immersive, nostalgic and visually layered.

As a London travel and documentary photographer, my work often explores urban environments, subcultures and everyday life through film photography and natural light. Rather than staged scenes, I focus on capturing genuine moments and visual narratives that reflect the rhythm and character of a place.

The Tokyo photography series captures the energy of the city through neon-lit streets, late-night storefronts, crowded intersections and quiet moments during cherry blossom season, while the Shanghai images focus on architecture, historic districts and the contrast between old and new urban spaces.

This ongoing body of work sits between travel photography, fine art photography and editorial documentary photography, combining analogue image-making with a modern cinematic aesthetic. My travel photography projects have been photographed across London, Europe, North Africa and Asia, creating visual stories rooted in culture, atmosphere and human connection.
